Reiki Healing in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Reiki (a system of healing and self-development) is a healing method and practice for channelling vital energy, with the focus on working on the energy system (energy lines, chakras and aura) located in and around the body. Reiki hands-on healing can also be used directly on specific physical conditions and ailments.

Reiki Founder

Mikao Usui from Japan was the originator of modern-day Reiki; he taught about self-development in the early part of the 20th century and would frequently meditate on Mount Kurama for spiritual cultivation. This helped him to access the power of Reiki healing and develop his understanding and Reiki skills as a natural healer, though his focus for his first students around 1915 was more on spiritual development and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. 

Modern Day Reiki

Just before and after Mikao Usui's passing in 1926, the focus became more on Reiki palm healing. This is especially due to one of Usui's students, Chujiro Hayashi, who developed his own system of Reiki palm healing around 1931. Most Reiki systems in the last 40 years have a modification and influence from Chujiro Hayashi. Today's Reiki systems have been modified even further to include healing methods and concepts from other holistic methods such as Yoga and the use of crystals.
